Driver lost control before crashing into big rig, severely injuring passenger

According to a recent article from Bakersfield Now, there was a traffic collision between a semi-truck and a car in southwest Bakersfield, leaving one woman killed and another man injured.  

The collision was reported at about 4:30 p.m. on District Boulevard near Randolph Street, said authorities.

The driver of the car sustained minor to moderate injuries, said the article.  They were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.

Additionally, the passenger of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, said the report.

Police stated in the article that the car was traveling at about 70 miles per hour before the driver lost control and crashed head-on into the big rig truck, which was stopped at a light waiting to turn at the intersection.

Currently, the crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the liable party and cause of the accident.
