Victim dies in hospital after collision with big rig truck

According to a recent report, a woman was killed on Friday afternoon after she was involved in a fatal accident with a big rig truck on Carmenita Road and Imperial Highway.

As mentioned in the report, the accident occurred at about 3:00 p.m. when the collision occurred just south of Imperial Highway.

Whittier Police officers responded to the crash, and determined that a black Chevy Malibu, operated by the woman, collided with the side of a big rig truck and went underneath the tractor-trailer, sources said.

Furthermore, rescue crews found the woman in shock and transported the injured victim to Norwalk Community Hospital where she later perished and was declared dead.

Sources did not reveal her name, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Currently, the cause of the crash is unknown and there is an investigation being led by the Whittier Police Department, and further details regarding the crash will be reported at a later time.
