Unnamed woman killed after collision with big rig truck accident on 10 Freeway

For reasons still unknown, a woman’s vehicle crashed into a big rig on the 10 Freeway in Monterey Park on Monday early morning, leaving the 29-year-old driver dead at the scene, according to a local news article.

Authorities responded to the traffic collision at about 1:19 a.m. when California Highway Patrol pronounced a 29-year-old Whittier woman dead at the scene.  Her name was withheld from the news pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Additionally, the woman was driving a Mazda 6 before it traveled directly into the path of a semi truck the woman had been passing by.

Authorities do not know how the vehicle crashed, but it was mentioned that the Mazda ended up on its roof, officials said.

The trucker was not injured, and nearby witnesses had told the CHP that the car was traveling at a high rate of speed before the impact.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
