Cynthia Rendon, 20, also injured and hospitalized after deadly car accident

According to an article from KSBY, there was a car accident on Tuesday night that killed two passengers at the intersection of US-101 near Cuesta Springs Road in Santa Margarita.

California Highway Patrol authorities responded to the fatal car crash just before 11:00 p.m. on Tuesday night, the article mentioned.  Officers were able to locate all parties within a single vehicle that crashed into the center divider.

Reportedly, the driver, identified as Robert Dave Jones II, 19, was speeding down the road when he lost control of the vehicle suddenly, driving the car up a steep embankment before crashing into the center divider.  Jones was said to have sustained major injuries and was hospitalized.

As mentioned in the article, two back seat passengers, identified only as a 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, both from Fresno, were ejected after the crash and died at the scene.  Currently, their names have been withheld, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Neither passenger was wearing their seatbelt, said authorities.

Furthermore, there was also a passenger in the front seat who sustained injuries.  The article mentioned that her name was Cynthia Rendon, 20, of Fresno.  She was transported to a local hospital to treat her injuries.

After gathering initial evidence, California Highway Patrol officers deduced that the driver, Jones, was intoxicated during the car crash.

Additionally, one other vehicle was also involved after hitting one of the ejected passengers on the highway, although there was not much information disclosed regarding the second vehicle.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
