Rider ejected and landed on roof of nearby parked car in fatal motorcycle crash

William McDermott was identified as the motorcyclist killed in a car accident on N. 10th Street and Washington Street on Monday morning in San Jose, according to a news report from Mercury News.

As mentioned in the article, the accident happened at nearly 10:55 a.m. as McDermott, the rider, was traveling southbound on his 2003 Ducati motorcycle.  The rider reportedly crashed with a 2002 PT Cruiser headed eastbound on Washington Street, said police.

McDermott struck the left-front side of the vehicle, causing him to be propelled off of his ride and onto the roof of a nearby vehicle before laying at rest in the street, said police.

Paramedics responded as well as authorities and pronounced McDermott dead at the scene.

Additionally, the woman driving the PT Cruiser remained at the scene after the incident and was cooperative with authorities during the investigation.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
