17-year-old high school football star killed and 4 other people injured in car accident on S Grade Rd near Via Viejas Oeste in Alpine

As mentioned in an article by Fox 5 News, on Monday, December 13th 2018, at about 8:25 p.m. 17-year-old William Burton was killed and about four other people were injured as a result of a traffic accident that took place on South Grade Road near Via Viegas Oeste in the city of Alpine.

Furthermore, authorities reported that a 18-year-old Crest man was driving a Jeep Wrangler in which Burton and another 17-year-old boy were riding as well.  The driver of the Jeep lost control and drifted off into oncoming traffic, crashing into a Lexus SUV, as stated by Fox 5 news.  A 51-year-old Alpine man was driving the Lexus and had a 13-year-old girl as his passenger.

In addition, Burton died before he could be taken to a hospital, however everybody else involved in the collision was hospitalized by ambulance.  The injuries sustained in the accident range from moderate to minor injuries, according to the article.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
