Fiery plane crash causes injury in El Cajon

Two Huntington Beach police officers and another man were injured after a plane crashed at the intersection of Cuyamaca Street and Marshall Avenue in El Cajon, CA on December 17th, according to a local news source.

As mentioned in the article, the accident occurred when a small plane reportedly crashed into an El Cajon parking lot on Sunday shortly after takeoff near Gillespie Field.

The 70-year-old plane was headed towards John Wayne Airport in Orange County before the engine reportedly malfunctioned.  The plane went down and struck a light pole before it laid to rest against a fence between building complexes.

Authorities stated the plane started leaking fuel, which caught fire and surrounded the aircraft.

Three victims were able to escape the crash and were transported to a local hospital.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the Federal Aviation Administration, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
