2 dead after a crash on 241 freeway south of 91 freeway

According to an article from the Orange County Register, there was a deadly freeway crash on the southbound 241 Freeway last Sunday that took the lives of two people in Anaheim.

As indicated in the news piece, authorities have identified the victims in the wrong-way crash as 70-year-old Young Yoon of Lake Forest, and his passenger, Steve Yoon of Irvine.

The crash occurred just before 3:27 a.m., according to CHP, when driver Jesus Alvarado, 33, of Riverside, was driving his Mercedes north in the southbound fast lanes of the 241 toll road.

Alvarado’s black Mercedes then collided head-on with a white Toyota Prius, with the two victims inside.

Coroners arrived on scene along with CHP officers shortly after, and in short time, both the woman and man inside the Prius were pronounced dead at the scene.

Additionally, it was reported that Alvarado’s Mercedes spun across all southbound lanes before stopping and catching fire, according to the report.

Emergency paramedics arrived and transported Alvarado to a local hospital for treatment of his own injuries.

Shortly after, roadway crews arrived to clear the debris in the roadway after the crash.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
