Chain reaction pileup on the San Gabriel Freeway leaves one killed and four injured

According to a recent article, at least four people were injured and one person was killed after a six-car pileup took place on the southbound 605 Freeway near Rose Hills Road.

As mentioned in the article, the accident took place just before 2:00 a.m. when a car somehow became disabled in the center median.

According to a California Highway Patrol log, two vehicles crashed near the disabled car, triggering a chain reaction of crashes with other vehicles in the HOV and No. 1 lanes.

Sources also stated that it was very possible that a pedestrian was struck by one of the vehicles on the freeway, although it is unclear if that victim was the driver of the disabled car.

Furthermore, the report indicates that one of the drivers involved was a 21-year-old Seal Beach resident who drove a 1970 Datsun 240Z.  Reportedly, this victim suffered major injuries.  His passenger, a female, also reportedly sustained moderate injuries.

Paramedics transported the two injured parties to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center.

Additionally, it was said that a 65-year-old man, a driver inside a 1998 Toyota Camry as well as his passenger suffered injuries and required transport to Beverly Hospital in Montebello.

Currently, it is unclear what caused the initial collisions on the roadway, however authorities are conducting an investigation to determine the cause.

Further details will be reported as they are found.
