One killed in a motorcycle collision on I-15 in Wildomar

According to Patch.com, a motorcyclist was killed Sunday night when he crashed on the southbound lane of I-15 in Wildomar north of Bundy Canyon Road.

The California Highway Patrol states the motorcyclist was riding a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle in the No. 1 lane which was also a fast lane.

Moments later, the motorcyclist went on the dirt portion of the center divider and lost control, authorities state.

As a result, the rider crashed on I-15 southbound north of Olive Street in the No. 1 lane.

The California Highway Patrol Officer Harvey Ray said that the rider was drifting across the center lane line until he reached the center median. The rider then traversed onto the dirt portion of the center median and struck the wood and metal guardrail.

The rider was ejected from his bike and landed in the fast lane of the freeway.

Responding personnel came from the Riverside County Fire Department and pronounced the rider dead at the scene.

The name of the victim was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

It is unclear if alcohol, drugs or speeding were involved in the factor of the collision but the authorities have not ruled them out.

This collision remains under investigation and further details will be updated as they are available.
