One motorist killed in a truck accident involving a big rig near Lancaster

According to My News LA, around 9:20 a.m. California Highway Patrol responded to a collision involving a motorcycle and a big rig at the intersection of East Avenue 1 and 70th Street East. The 72-year-old motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the truck driver, 36-year-old Lancaster man, was uninjured, according to authorities.

A 1996 Freightliner traveling north on 70th Street stopped at Avenue 1 and then pulled into the intersection when the motorist traveling west on E Avenue 1 collided with the big rig resulting in the fatal accident.

The victim’s name was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were suspected as factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, according to the CHP.  Further details will be listed as they are determined in the pending investigation by the California Highway Patrol.
