Elderly man died on the scene after colliding head-on with truck on highway 99 and Anita Road near Chico

According to a KRCR news report, on Friday, March 9th 2018, one person died on scene after a traffic accident that involved one vehicle colliding head-on with the opposite on-coming traffic on Highway 99 and Anita Road near Chico.

Moreover, as stated from the news report, the 77-year-old man driving the Geo Prizm collided with a Cal Fire truck driving northbound of the 99 Freeway. According to the CHP investigation, the elderly man drifted onto the shoulder, hit a traffic sign and over corrected going across the highway resulting in colliding with the on-coming Cal Fire truck.

In addition, as mentioned by KRCR news channel, the people who were in the Cal Fire truck were identified as Cody McNamara and Greg Babcock. Both men had minor injuries and was sent to the nearest medical center.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
