One dead and one injured in a drunken street race crash in Anaheim

According to nbclosangeles.com, a car crashed occurred at the intersection of Ball Road and Loara Street on Sunday morning resulting in one dead and one injured.

As mentioned in the article, the fire fighters responded to a report of a car collision at the intersection of Ball Road and Loara Street around 3:15 a.m. Sunday. When authorities arrived, they saw a Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima and Nissan Versa at the reported site.

Officials state the driver of the Toyota, identified as a 34-year-old man, was turning into his driveway to get to his pregnant wife when he was hit by Jorge Luna Martinez, 18, who was driving the Nissan Maxima. Meanwhile, the Nissan Versa was parked at the time of the collision.

The 34-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, according to the Orange County coroner’s office.

A 17-year-old female passenger of the Nissan Maxima was injured and was transported to a nearby hospital in a stable condition.

Jorge Luna Martinez was initially detained for investigation of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, was arrested on account of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, felony DUI and driving without a license.

Jorge Luna Martinez’s bail has been set at $100,000.

The name of the victim was not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.
