Motorcycle-involved accident resulted in fatality

According to a news report from KSBW8, on Saturday, April 21st 2018, at about 2:00 p.m., a motorcyclist was killed and at least one person was injured ensuing a head-on traffic collision on Empire Grade Road and Smith Grade Road in the city of Santa Cruz.

Initially, the report stated that a motorcycle was involved in a head-on traffic collision with a vehicle. As a result, the motorcyclist was possibly struck under the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to officials. Moreover, a second motorcycle crashed in the same area 30 minutes following the fatal accident, as stated by authorities.

Furthermore, it is unclear how many were injured, but at least one person was transported to a nearby hospital by paramedics. Additionally, authorities have not yet released any information on the injured party at this time.

Several lanes of traffic were blocked as authorities worked to clear the accident and a tow truck was required for the vehicles involved in the accident, as stated by CHP.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
