48-year-old parents from La Palma dead after collision with Audi
Two parents, Jeff and Glendale Gance, were killed in a car accident on Monday morning on the northbound 15 Freeway near Minneola Road near Yermo, according to a report from Victor Valley News.
Per the article, the car accident occurred at about 6:39 a.m. on Monday morning when the family traveled in the No. 2 lane on the 15 Freeway in a gold Lexus SUV.
At the same time, an Audi traveled in the No. 1 lane and made an unsafe lane change into the No. 2 lane, crashing into the left rear of the SUV. The Audi came to rest at the center median divider.
As a result of the collision between the two vehicles, the SUV rolled over several times, ejecting the driver, Mr. Gance. He was pronounced deceased at the scene, when paramedics arrived, sources said.
Mrs. Gance was transported to Barstow Community Hospital where she died shortly after, the article mentioned. Additionally, their two kids, Michael, 17, and Lauren, 15, were injured and had to be airlifted to a hospital.
According to the report, all passengers had been wearing their seatbelts.
Currently, this car accident remains under investigation by the California Highway Barstow Station and further details will be updated later. Per officials, drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a contributing cause of the highway crash.
