Driver of BMW sustains moderate injuries after collision with wrong-way driver

The Ventura County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the woman killed on Tuesday in a crash on Highway 101 as Marilee Quinn, an 88-year-old woman from Westlake Village, according to a news report from the Ventura County Star.

As mentioned in the article, Quinn died of multiple blunt-force injuries due to a head-on collision at about 3:20 p.m. on September 14th on the southbound SR-101 near the Westlake Boulevard offramp.

California Highway Patrol officials stated that Quinn was driving the wrong way, going north in the southbound lanes of the freeway.  It was unclear from the article where her Hyundai vehicle got onto the freeway and how long it had been going the wrong way before the collision.

Quinn struck a black BMW that had been traveling south in the fast lane.  Although no names were revealed, the driver was described as a 39-year-old woman from Lake Balboa. Sources stated she was transported to Los Robles Hospital and Medical Center in Thousand Oaks after sustaining moderate injuries.

Additionally, the report indicated that the BMW ended up in the fast lane while the Hyundai came to a halt in some bushes off the road after the accident occurred.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
