Beloved, inspiration runner from Santa Ana killed in hit-and-run collision near Mile Square Park

According to an article from NBC Los Angeles, there was a deadly hit-and-run accident on Wednesday, August 23 where a runner was struck in a hit-and-run crash near Mile Square Park in Fountain Valley.

Authorities were able to identify the pedestrian who died as 48-year-old Juan Ramirez, a Santa Ana resident.  The jogger had been on his way to meet a running buddy near Mile Square Park when he was suddenly struck by 39-year-old John Motesharrei.

Motesharrei was identified by authorities, who arrested the suspect the following day in Westminster.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.
