2 killed and 1 injured in car crash on Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street in Lakeview
As mentioned in the article, around 11:30 p.m. on Monday, a man in his 60’s with a red 1992 Chevrolet Corvette crashed into a curve at Gilman Springs Road and Bridge Street at a high rate of speed. This caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle and collide head-on with a 2002 Buick Le Sabre, carrying John McDaniel, 60, and another passenger, 77.
The crash caused the Buick to erupt in flames, reported the article. Additionally, both drivers and the passenger in the Buick were trapped inside the wreckage of vehicles.
According to the source, a Hemet police officer and a witness in the collision assisted in removing John McDaniel out of the trapped car. Unfortunately, the driver of the Corvette died at the scene, and although the paramedics were able to transport the Buick passenger to a local hospital, the 77-year-old died at the hospital the following Tuesday morning.
Currently, the authorities leading the investigation have not ruled bout alcohol, drugs, and/or reckless driving as factors in the fatal car accident.
The accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol and further details will be reported at a later time.
