Fresno residents killed after fatal car crash on Highway 99

Three people were killed in a deadly car crash on Golden State Highway 99 near Herndon Avenue in Fresno on Sunday morning, according to an article from the Fresno Bee.

The accident happened just before 2:50 a.m. when a 1998 Ford Explorer headed south on Highway 99 just north of Herndon Avenue attempted to turn left after speeding, crashing into the center divider of the road.

Reportedly, the Explorer then shifted to the right and overturned, blocking the roadway.  According to officials, a Kia Sorrento driving down the middle lane was unable to stop in time and crashed directly into the right hand side of the Ford Explorer.

As a result, the driver and two passengers in the Explorer died at the scene.  According to the Fresno Bee, the Fresno County Coroner released the names of the three victims: Ismael Ramos Jara, 54, Maria De La Cruz, 53, and Jesus Anthony Jara, 22, all of Fresno.

Currently, this crash remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the exact cause and liable party in the crash.

Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
