Four Pedestrians Injured in Traffic Collision at Fourth Street and Brookwood Avenue in Santa Rosa

Four pedestrians sustain injuries after hit-and-run driver collides into them at Santa Rosa intersection

According to a local news article, a hit-and-run car accident occurred early morning Sunday near Fourth Street and Brookwood Avenue, leaving four pedestrians injured on a sidewalk in front of a restaurant. Jose Gil Ortiz-Ortiz was the 18-year-old driver who was subsequently arrested for felony DUI and a felony hit-and-run.

As mentioned in the news release, the accident occurred at just before 1:48 a.m., when Santa Rosa police responded to a hit-and-run collision near Fourth Street and Brookwood Avenue.  Police was informed by witnesses that a Ford Explorer had crashed into multiple pedestrians on a sidewalk on the northwest corner of the intersection, right in front of an unspecified restaurant.

Additionally, it was mentioned that the vehicle was missing a rear tire and that it fled, heading southbound on Brookwood Avenue.  Additionally, authorities state that the driver reportedly ran out of the vehicle after it came to a stop near Second Street.

Moreover, the four victims in the collision were treated by emergency respondents and police officers for their injuries.  The article did not mention the severity of the injuries, although they were reported to be “significant.”

The hit-and-run driver was found a short while later after authorities closed down the block and used a K-9 dog to find the man.  The driver was identified as Jose Gil Ortiz-Ortiz, an 18-year-old Graton resident.  He was subsequently arrested for felony DUI and a felony hit-and-run.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
