Traffic accident on Interstate 10 near Date Palm Dr in Desert Hot Springs killed Fernando Gonzalez and Ernesto Vega and injured 3 others

According to an article from KSBW8, on Saturday, March 10th 2018, just before 1:00 a.m. 39-year-old Fernando Gonzalez and 25-year-old Ernesto Vega were killed and 3 others were injured as a result of a car accident that took place on Interstate 10 near Date Palm Drive in Desert Hot Springs.

Furthermore, authorities mentioned that a 20-year-old was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe on I-10 when the driver lost control of the vehicle causing it to overturn several times.  There were a total of six people riding in the Tahoe, which also carried two 50-year-old men.  Three people were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision and were ejected from the vehicle, as mentioned in the article.

In addition, Gonzalez was pronounced dead at the scene, and Ernesto Vega was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, where he later passed away.  One other person who is yet to be identified was also taken to the hospital with major injuries, however the other two that were injured declined treatment.

Currently, this incident is under review in an ongoing investigation by the authorities, and further details will be reviewed and released to the public as it is determined.
