Juan Rodriguez, a Costa Mesa resident, was found dead after attempting to escape police pursuit in Santa Ana

As mentioned in the article, At 12:11 a.m. Sunday, the Orange County Authority responded to reports of a traffic collision with fire near at the intersection of Standard Avenue and East Warner Avenue in Santa Ana.
Reportedly, crews arriving on scene found a solo vehicle collision with fire showing from the engine cavity and initiated an aggressive fire attack. The fire was contained to the engine bay and extinguished within minutes.
Officers found the driver dead and his 9-year-old daughter trapped in the back seat, sources said. Authorities were able to identify the man driving as Juan Rodriguez of Costa Mesa. The identity of the daughter is unclear at this time.
Initially, police had been chasing Rodriguez after he was reportedly pointing a gun at a security guard during a brawl at Hector’s Mariscos on McFadden and Standard Avenues, according to the article.
When the suspect, Rodriguez, fled at about 10:20 p.m., police found the vehicle going south on Grand Avenue from Edinger Avenue. The driver refused to stop for the authorities and turned the lights off to keep traveling before he crashed his vehicle into a power pole and a wall in the 1800 block of West Warner, according to the article.
Currently, the 9-year-old daughter suffers in critical condition and was transported to Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
According to the article, it had taken 30 minutes to cut the girl from the vehicle she was trapped in.
