82-year-old Galt resident dead and another injured after a traffic accident east of Galt
Diane George, 82, of Galt was killed after a car crash occurred last Friday morning at the intersection of Simmerhorn Road and Cherokee Lane, east of Galt, according to a report from the Sacramento Bee.
As mentioned in the article, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman killed in the car crash as Diane Galt.
Galt was driving a Ford Taurus at about 9:15 a.m. at the intersection of Simmerhorn Road and Cherokee Lane when she failed to stop at the stop sign, said California Highway Patrol.
The Taurus went into the path of a westbound Chevrolet Tahoe. The identity of the driver of the Taurus was not available, per the article. It was stated, however, that she was a 32-year-old woman from Wilton.
Unable to avoid a collision, the Taurus was struck, and George sustained fatal injuries, sources said.
Paramedics rushed to the site of the accident but George was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Tahoe suffered minor injuries, as described by California Highway Patrol. She was transported by ambulance to Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center.
Currently, this crash remains under investigation by the California Highway Patrol. Further details will be reported at a later time once the investigation has concluded.
The CHP stated that it does not believe alcohol and drugs to have been factors in the Sacramento car crash.
