88-year-old woman killed, others injured after major three-car traffic collision in Burbank

According to a recent article from MyNewsLA, an 88-year-old woman named Delia Ortiz was fatally injured after a three-car car accident on Friday, November 24, 2017 at Magnolia Blvd and East First St.

The pedestrian collision approximately took place at about 8:05 p.m. on Friday evening at the intersection of Magnolia Boulevard and East First Street.

Per the Burbank Police Department, officers arrived at the scene of the accident and uncovered a 1990 Volvo sedan crashed through a chain-link fence near Magnolia Boulevard.  The driver was listed as a 78-year-old man who was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries, according to police.  His name was not released in the article.

Additionally, a passenger in the Volvo was identified as Delia Ortiz, a Burbank resident.  She unfortunately passed away at the hospital after being taken there by paramedics.  A second passenger, described as an “elderly” woman, was treated for her injuries at the hospital, although her injuries were considered by officials to be non-life-threatening.

One pedestrian happened to be in the path of the accident and sustained minor injuries from the crash.

Other occupants of the other vehicles also suffered minor injuries, but it did not mention in the article if anyone else had received treatment.

Currently, the investigation is ongoing and further information will be reported at a later time by the Burbank Police Department.
