3 people were killed after a traffic accident on Golden State Highway near Mission Avenue in Merced

According to a recent press release from CBS, there was a report of a fatal traffic collision that occurred on the northbound SR-99, just south of Mission Avenue.

Per the article, the accident occurred on Wednesday morning when a pickup truck was traveling southbound on the highway.  California Highway Patrol reported that the driver of the pickup truck veered into the northbound lanes, directly into the path of an incoming SUV vehicle.

The identity of the driver and the passenger in the pickup truck were not revealed, although it was mentioned that they were 50-year-old Modesto residents.

Furthermore, the driver of the SUV known only as a Chowchilla resident in his 20’s, was also reported to have passed away as a result of the car collision.

Currently, the California Highway Patrol is investigating this incident, and it is unclear at this point if the driver of the pickup was under the influence at the time of the crash.

More information will be revealed as it is determined after the investigation is concluded by the authorities.
