Oftentimes, a pedestrian will suffer major injuries or even die due to a negligent driver.  According to pedestrian car accident statistics published by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration in 2008, one pedestrian is killed in traffic every two hours.

Pedestrians must be attentive and aware of their surroundings at all times when crossing the road to prevent being struck by a vehicle or at the very least, greatly reduce the chances of being injured in an accident.
