Truck accident occurs just after initial car crash on 5 Freeway near Gorman

According to a recent article from KTLA, there was a truck accident in which a Los Angeles County fire engine was struck by a semi-truck at the site of an earlier traffic collision on the I-5 Freeway near Gorman, causing injury to those aboard the fire engine as well as the big-rig truck driver.

The accident occurred at about 7:00 p.m. when a Los Angeles County fire engine was leaving the scene of a previous car crash on the I-5 Freeway just north of Quail Lake Road.  As stated in the article, a big rig truck struck the back of the fire engine, causing minor injuries to at least one person aboard the fire engine.

Furthermore, the big rig driver also was reportedly injured as a result of the crash, sources said.

Multiple lanes were closed in both directions for several hours, California Highway patrol reported.  A SigAlert was issued at around 7:30 p.m., but traffic lanes reopened by 11:20 p.m.
