Solo car rollover ejects three children resulting in one Indio child dead

According to Onscene.tv, around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Cal Fire and Riverside county Fire responded to a single car collision on the eastbound I-10 near Chiriaco Summit in which one child was killed and seven others were injured.

Stated by the CHP, the Dodge Van attempted to avoid collision with a semi truck when it rolled over with a total of eight occupants inside. Three of the eight occupants who were children were ejected from their seats: one child was confirmed deceased at the scene by paramedics, another suffered major injuries, and the last child suffered minor to moderate injuries.  The remaining five adults suffered moderate to major injuries.

Authorities report that the passengers were not wearing their seat belts at the time of the collision.

Both major injury victims were airlifted to a local trauma center and the remaining injured victims were hospitalized in a local hospital through ground transportation. Their names were not mentioned in the article, pending the notification of next-of-kin.

This accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.  Further details will be updated as they are available.
