Long Beach, CA (November 2, 2019) – A man is dead and a woman and child have critical injuries following a serious pedestrian accident in Long Beach. The crash was reported on Thursday, October 31st around 9:55 a.m. on Country Club Boulevard, near Los Cerritos Park Place.
Authorities report that 20-year-old Carlo Navarro was driving a 2002 Toyota Sequoia southbound on Country Club. As Navarro came to the intersection, he failed to properly navigate a turn and his vehicle went onto the sidewalk, striking three pedestrians. The pedestrians were later identified as Raihan Dakhil, her son Omar, and her husband. Dakhil’s husband died from injuries sustained in the crash, while Dakhil and her son were taken to the hospital with major injuries.
Police detained Navarro at the scene and he was later arrested on suspicion of DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter. He was taken to jail where he was held on $100,000 bail.
