On average, California experiences about 800 pedestrian deaths each year. Pedestrians are especially vulnerable to being killed or seriously hurt when they have been involved in a crash with a vehicle.
Each pedestrian accident must be carefully investigated by authorities in order to determine the responsible party. Police will examine the scene and speak to witnesses in order to reconstruct the events leading up to the accident. Many pedestrian accidents occur when drivers fail to stop or otherwise yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or other marked areas.
