Van Nuys, CA (December 9, 2019) – On Saturday evening, December 7th, a man on a bicycle was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Van Nuys. The fatal accident took place at around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of Kester Avenue and Victory Boulevard.
Police stated that the driver of an unspecified vehicle entered the intersection at the same time as a male bicyclist and subsequently struck him. Paramedics arrived at the scene alongside police and the victim was rushed to a nearby hospital via ambulance. He was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver of the vehicle involved was reported to have remained at the scene and no charges have been filed. The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the victim at this time.
Most bicyclists who are struck and killed in accidents with motor vehicles have been found to be males over 40-years-old. Nevertheless, despite gender or age, bicycle accidents in California often result in serious or fatal injuries due to the vulnerability of cyclists.
