According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, three people were injured on Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Highway 101. The crash was report around 12:30 p.m in Santa Barbara, California.

The crash occurred on Highway 101, between the exits of Milpas Street and Garden Street. According to CHP, one vehicle braked to avoid boxes that have fell off a flatbed truck, and was rear ended by the vehicle that was following. Both drivers pulled off to the center divider, while the truck exited to Milpas Street.

Three people were hurt in the collision, some with minor injuries others with moderate. All three injured parties have since been transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by ambulance.

Large amounts of debris is on the roadway and is being cleaned up by emergency personnel on scene. Traffic was backed up in the area due to the closure of the left-hand lane.
