Stratford, CA (October 18, 2019) – A woman was killed after being involved in a head-on collision along Avenal Cutoff Road in the Kings County town of Stratford. According to the California Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at around 6:26 a.m. on Friday morning, October 18th, in the vicinity of Lincoln Avenue.
The CHP stated that the female driver of a red Toyota Camry collided head-on with a silver Chevrolet Volt. One of the vehicles was reported to have caught on fire after the collision and an unidentified person at the scene helped by breaking windows to free the occupants.
Emergency responders arrived at the crash site where they pronounced the female driver deceased. The male driver of the Volt was taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries. Neither victim has been identified but both were reported to be workers at Avenal State Prison.
The CHP is currently in charge of the investigation into this incident.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
Due to high speeds, head-on collisions often end with catastrophic and fatal injuries. Recent reports have found that more than 3,000 California car accidents ended in fatalities in the year 2017. Thousands more resulted in minor to major injuries, and while there are many different reasons why a head-on collision can occur, it is important to understand that as either a victim or a family member, you may be entitled to file a claim for compensation at this time.
Because of the extremely high costs of medical bills and physical recovery on top of lost wages, many victims will opt to file a claim for financial recompense. It is our belief that anyone who has operated a vehicle in a negligent manner, resulting in the injuries or death of another person, should be held accountable for their actions.
