Stanton, CA (October 2, 2019) – A pedestrian who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on Sunday, September 29th, has been identified as 32-year-old Vanessa Seagraves. The fatal accident took place at around 12:29 a.m. at the intersection of Beach Boulevard and Chapman Avenue in Stanton.
Authorities said that Seagraves was crossing the intersection when she was hit by a white Toyota. Paramedics were accompanied by firefighters at the scene where they unsuccessfully attempted to save her life. Seagraves was pronounced deceased at the accident site.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.
We would like to offer our condolences to the family of Vanessa Seagraves at this time.
According to reports, a pedestrian is struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11 percent of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These unfavorable statistics are commonly due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, which leaves pedestrians at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries.
Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
