According to Santa Barbara’s Noozhawk, Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Deputy, Deputy Moss, 42 after his patrol vehicle collided with another car on northbound Highway 101 near Glen Annie Road. According to reports from the accident, the deputy was driving with his lights and sirens on responding to an emergency call in the fast lane. At that time, the driver of a Toyota Camry ahead of him merged to the right and as the deputy started to pass the Toyota, it veered left and collided with the patrol vehicle, pushing it into the center divider. The vehicles collided again after initial contact, and then merged to the shoulder to wait for emergency personnel.

The deputy was taken to Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital with complaints of pain to his wrist and head, while the Toyota’s driver and her passengers suffered no injuries. Drugs and alcohol are not contributing factors in the collision and no arrests were made.
