California Pedestrian Accidents

In 2016, 867 pedestrians were killed in crashes on California roadways. This number represented an increase of nearly 6 percent from the year before. California also leads the nation in the number of annual pedestrian deaths. In addition to fatal crashes, thousands of people will are hurt in pedestrian accidents across our state every year.

A California pedestrian accident is often a life-changing event. Even if the incident does not result in a fatality, victims may suffer serious injuries, including broken bones, neck and spinal cord trauma, internal injuries, and other serious damage.
