Pasadena, CA (September 12, 2019) – A vehicle involved in a collision ended up striking two pedestrians on Wednesday afternoon, September 11th. The incident took place at the corner of West California Boulevard and Raymond Avenue.
Two vehicles collided and one subsequently struck two pedestrians who were in a crosswalk at the time. The vehicle ultimately landed on top of an elderly woman in her 80s and police were dispatched to the scene along with other emergency medical responders.
The elderly victim was transported via ambulance to a nearby hospital. The other pedestrian who was struck was identified only as a 26-year-old woman. She was taken to the hospital as well with unspecified injuries.
The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time.
Since there is often very little protection in place for a pedestrian when they are struck by a car, they are at a much higher risk of suffering catastrophic or even fatal injuries following an accident with a motor vehicle. In fact, pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11% of all California motor vehicle accident deaths.
Unfortunately, fatal accidents can occur at any time, subsequently leaving loved ones with not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is important for the bereaved family to understand that they have significant rights at this time.
