Palmdale, CA (September 19, 2019) – A man lost his life after his vehicle collided with a trash truck on Thursday morning. The collision took place at around 11:50 a.m. at the intersection of Avenue M and 20th Street in Palmdale.
Authorities said that a 41-year-old man driving a Honda Fit was traveling east when he collided with a Waste Management truck at the intersection. The garbage truck was attempting to make a left turn onto Avenue M from 20th Street east at the time.
Emergency medical technicians accompanied law enforcement to the scene and quickly rushed the driver of the Honda to Antelope Valley Hospital. He was pronounced deceased a short time later. The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Investigators are working to establish the events that led to this incident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
In 2012, the state of California saw 341 fatal collisions involving large trucks, and hundreds more suffered serious injuries. That number was reported to have made up 7.3% of all fatal truck accidents across the United States. Due to the sheer nature and power of such large vehicles, it seems fairly obvious that truck accidents in California, particularly those involving a much smaller vehicle, may often be among the most severe types of collisions.
We understand that there is often nothing as life-altering as suffering a sudden injury, and it is important to realize that your rights must be protected as soon as possible. Additionally, when you or a loved one has been injured or killed as the result of someone else’s blatantly negligent or criminal behavior, it is essential to understand the need for qualified representation.
