Palm Springs, CA (October 24, 2019) – Authorities in Palm Springs have released the identity of the man who was struck and killed while riding a bicycle along South Palm Canyon Drive Monday night, October 21st. Raymundo Jaime, 30, of Desert Hot Springs, was struck by a hit-and-run driver at around 9:20 p.m.
Police stated that Jaime was riding his bicycle in the area of Mesquite Avenue and Morongo Road when he was hit by a dark-colored sedan. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Paramedics arrived at the scene where they worked to apply life-saving methods to the victim. Jaime was pronounced deceased at the crash site.
Authorities are currently asking the public to come forward with any information concerning the driver of the vehicle involved.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Raymundo Jaime at this time.
Due to the absolute vulnerability of a rider, bicycle accidents in California have a tendency to end with catastrophic or fatal injuries. Moreover, the state of California recorded more bicycle fatalities than any other state across the county in 2012, and the numbers have not fluctuated much since then.
Deadly crashes can leave family members with not just the pain and suffering of an unexpected loss but enormously high costs as well. If you have found yourself in such a place, it is important to understand that you have rights protected by law.
