Palm Springs, CA (August 27, 2019) – Late on Monday afternoon, August 26th, two women were killed in a five-vehicle crash that also left three others with major injuries, according to authorities.
The victims have been identified as 34-year-old Desseree Lopez and 51-year-old Adele Johnson, both of Palm Springs. These women tragically lost their lives in the crash that happened on North Indian Canyon Drive at approximately 4:45 p.m. in Palm Springs.
The collision, which happened at or near the intersection with Tramview Road, was reported as a chain-reaction type of collision that started with a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The pickup was traveling south along N Indian Canyon Drive when for unknown reasons, it caused the crash that ultimately included a Ford sedan, a Nissan sedan, a Mercedes Benz sedan, and a Mitsubishi Montero SUV.
Police have not stated which victims were in which vehicles but Lopez was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene. Johnson, who was in a separate vehicle from Lopez, was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries. Three other victims sustained injuries described as major. One other person involved escaped without injury.
Police are actively conducting a thorough investigation into the cause of this accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of both Desseree Lopez and Adele Johnson at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of their full recoveries.
Tragically, more than 3,000 California car accidents resulted in fatalities in 2017, and thousands more suffered minor to catastrophic injuries. Although there are often many different reasons why a collision can occur, you may be entitled to file a claim for compensation in the event that you have been hurt due to the negligent actions of another party.
Because of the extremely high costs of medical bills and physical recovery on top of lost wages, many victims will opt to file a claim for financial recompense. It is our belief that anyone who has operated a vehicle in a negligent manner, resulting in the injuries or death of another person, should be held accountable for their actions.
