Pala Mesa, CA (November 30, 2019) – A 73-year-old woman is dead and another person seriously hurt following a crash in Pala Mesa on Friday, November 29th. The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 15 near Mission Road.
According to reports, a driver of a Ford Mustang lost control of a vehicle and crashed into the median in the southbound lanes of the highway. As emergency crews were arriving at the scene, a Ford Crown Victoria also lost control and struck an ambulance which was at the crash scene. The woman who was killed was a passenger in the Ford. The driver of the Ford, a 66-year-old man, suffered severe injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
Six other individuals, including three in the Mustang, a California Highway Patrol officer, and two firefighters were treated for minor injuries after the crash. An investigation is ongoing and alcohol is not believed to be a factor at this time. None of those involved have been identified.
This year, there will be more than 3,000 victims of fatal crashes in California. Unfortunately, our state ranks among the most dangerous in the nation when it comes to fatal accidents. The cause of each crash must be carefully determined by the police.
There is nothing more devastating and heartbreaking than the loss of a loved one to a California car accident. When your family member has been killed due to the negligence of another motorist, you could have a claim for compensation under California’s wrongful death law. This law allows recovery for numerous types of damages, including funeral and medical bills, lost wages, and loss of companionship.
