Oxnard, CA – Bicyclist & Driver Injured in Major Collision at Saviers & Bard Rds

Oxnard, CA (October 10, 2019) – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Saviers and Bard Roads in Oxnard ended up leaving a bicyclist critically injured. The collision happened at around 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, October 9th.

Officials with the Oxnard Police Department said that a 2007 Chevrolet pickup truck and a 2017 Nissan Versa collided after the driver of the Nissan attempted to turn left onto Bard Road. The Silverado struck the Nissan and continued to veer off the roadway where it hit a bicyclist who was standing with his bike on the sidewalk.

Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene and transported the injured bicyclist to Ventura County Medical Center. He is listed in critical condition. The 88-year-old female operator of the Nissan was hospitalized with moderate injuries and the driver of the pickup, a 23-year-old man, suffered minor wounds.

The Oxnard Police Department is in charge of the investigation into this collision.

Our thoughts are with all injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recoveries.

Pedestrian Accidents in California

According to reports, a pedestrian is struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11% of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These unfavorable statistics are commonly due to the extreme vulnerability of the victim at the time of impact, which leaves pedestrians at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries.

Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
