Los Angeles, CA (September 10, 2019) – Police confirmed that a 65-year-old man using a walker was struck and killed in a fatal pedestrian accident on Monday, September 9th. The victim was walking across Century Boulevard, just west of Main Street, when the accident occurred at approximately 10:25 p.m.
According to police, the driver struck the victim and then fled the scene. Authorities said the vehicle is believed to be a 2003 blue Honda hatchback driven by an individual described as a Hispanic woman.
Paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the incident where they immediately transported the severely injured victim to a local hospital. He was tragically pronounced deceased a short time later.
Police are asking anyone with information to please contact detectives with the Los Angeles Police Department South Traffic Division or Crime Stoppers.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the victim at this time.
On average, a pedestrian is reported to be struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11% of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These detrimental statistics are often due to the vulnerability of pedestrians at the time of a collision.
Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
