According to officials, officer Mike Martinez was performing a traffic stop for a possible stolen vehicle at approximately 10:40 p.m. at or near the aforementioned intersection. Martinez was then struck by a speeding van at some point during the process.

The officer was able to hang onto the hood of the vehicle momentarily before being thrown off and suffering injuries. Martinez sustained significant arm injuries but his current condition was not reported. Police are continuing to search for the driver involved.

Our thoughts are with Officer Mike Martinez and his family at this time. We hope for a full recovery.

Car Accidents in California

In 2012, the state of California saw 341 fatal collisions involving large trucks. That number was reported to have made up 7.3% of all fatal truck accidents across the United States. Due to the sheer nature and power of such large vehicles, it seems fairly obvious that multi-vehicle accidents in California, particularly those involving a large truck, may often be among the most severe types of collisions.

We understand that there is often nothing as life-altering as suffering a sudden injury, and it is important to realize that your rights must be protected as soon as possible. Additionally, when you or a loved one has been injured or killed as the result of someone else’s blatantly negligent or criminal behavior, it is essential to understand the need for qualified representation.
