A hit-and-run accident in California is a very serious event. Drivers who leave the scene of a crash are attempting to avoid responsibility for their actions in many cases. However, once these drivers are apprehended they will face tough penalties, including potential jail time for committing a felony offense.
If the hit-and-run driver also caused the crash to occur due to their negligence, they may face a claim from the person they injured as a result of the collision. When you have been the victim of a hit-and-run crash, you may be able to recover compensation from the responsible party for your damages, including pain and suffering, lost wages, medical bills and potentially more.
