Long Beach, CA – Update: Police Identify Woman Hit & Killed at Magnolia Ave & 32nd St

Long Beach, CA (March 10, 2020) – Authorities have now released the identity of the elderly woman who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Long Beach last Friday, March 6th. Maria De Jesus Macias, of Long Beach, was killed after being hit by a vehicle at the intersection of Magnolia Avenue and 32nd Street in the Wrigley neighborhood.

According to police, Macias was attempting to cross the intersection in the crosswalk when she was hit by a 2003 Honda Pilot that was traveling southbound at around 6:15 p.m. Emergency medical responders arrived at the scene and immediately transported the severely wounded victim to a nearby hospital. She was pronounced deceased a short time later.

The operator of the vehicle, identified only as a 46-year-old man from Long Beach, remained at the scene. The official cause of the incident remains under investigation.
