Long Beach, CA – Update on Identity of Bicyclist Struck & Killed on Redondo Ave

Long Beach, CA (September 30, 2019) – The man who was struck by two vehicles while riding a bicycle and ultimately succumbed to his injuries last Thursday, September 26th, has been identified by authorities. Mike Yanis, 59, lost his life in the accident which occurred at Redondo Avenue and 11th Street in Long Beach.

The incident took place at around 6:20 a.m. and authorities arrived at the scene to find Yanis lying in the roadway. A preliminary investigation showed that a woman was driving south on Redondo Avenue when she failed to see the Yanis and subsequently struck him. The victim was knocked into the northbound lane where he was hit by a second motorist.

Both drivers involved remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. The investigation is currently ongoing.
