Long Beach, CA – Update on CHP Officer Hurt in Fatal Crash with Pedestrian on Del Amo

Long Beach, CA (October 31, 2019) – Authorities have released further information concerning the collision between a California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer and a pedestrian on Del Amo Boulevard in Long Beach. The fatal collision that also left the officer with serious injuries took place on Sunday morning, October 26th at approximately 4:40 a.m.

According to police, CHP Officer Alfredo Gutierrez was heading down Del Amo when he struck a 24-year-old pedestrian, identified as Cezanine Mount, of Long Beach. Mount was pronounced deceased at the scene and Officer Gutierrez was ejected from his motorcycle during the crash.

Officials confirmed that Officer Gutierrez suffered a serious head injury and was transported to Long Beach Memorial Hospital. He remains in the hospital being treated for head trauma at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.
