Long Beach, CA – Man Critically Injured by Train at Pacific Ave & Fifth St

Long Beach, CA (December 17, 2019) – A victim, identified only as a man in his 30s, suffered critical injuries after falling off a Metro station platform and being struck by a train in Long Beach. The incident was reported at around 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 14th, at the Metro station located at Pacific Avenue and Fifth Street.

Officials with the Long Beach Fire Department stated that the man fell from the platform and was subsequently struck by a train and trapped underneath a rail car. Rescue crews removed the victim and he was promptly transported to a nearby hospital. He is currently listed in critical condition.

The victim was reported to have suffered upper and lower body injuries, according to a spokeswoman for the Long Beach Police Department. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
