Inglewood, CA (September 16, 2019) – Police have now released the identity of the man who was struck and killed by a motor vehicle on the 405 Freeway last Friday, September 13th.
Jesus Arce, 27, lost his life in the deadly collision that occurred around 11:30 p.m. near Century Boulevard in Inglewood.
Authorities stated that Arce was walking along the roadway when he was struck by oncoming vehicles. The driver of the first vehicle that hit Arce fled the scene but the operator of the second vehicle, a Toyota Camry, remained at the crash site and cooperated with authorities.
Emergency responders pronounced Arce dead at the scene. Authorities continue to look for the hit-and-run driver as part of their investigation into the incident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Jesus Arce at this time.
On average, a pedestrian is reported to be struck and killed by a motor vehicle approximately every two hours. Pedestrian accidents in California have been reported to make up 11% of all motor vehicle accident deaths in the state. These detrimental statistics are often due to the absolute vulnerability of the victim at the time of a collision, which leaves pedestrians are at a higher risk of suffering serious or even fatal injuries.
Deadly accidents can occur at any time, resulting in not only the pain and suffering of losing a family member but the burden of extremely high expenses as well. While it may be difficult, it is terribly important for bereaved family members to understand that they may likely have substantial rights at this time.
